I’ve had the honor of being mentioned as the “Artist Of The Day” in the Tampa Bay Times’ online music blog, Soundcheck. The blurb was written by Jay Cridlin, who is a damned nice guy. Long story short, Jay noticed my name popping up on occasion, and looked a little closer, where he learned of Capt. Thornton’s Tampa Bay Local Music Festival. He wrote me and asked for more information, and this blurb is the result.
Friend and relatives are rather excited, but I’ve tried to downplay the whole thing. It’s one mention on one day. Tomorrow there’ll be another “Artist Of The Day” and my moment in the sun will have passed. But at the very least, it’s a mention and raises the general perception of me by a notch. I’ve already had a few messages about the festival because of the blurb, and I hope it’s a good indication that some things are beginning to move a bit. Sure, it’s just one mention on one day, but it’s a step forward. The trick is to make the next step. And the next. And the next.
But, it’s nice to be mentioned. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Jay Cridlin for mentioning me. Hopefully in the future I’ll give him a whole lot more to write about.
