Quote: “It doesn’t say anywhere in the Constitution this idea of the separation of church and state. ”
Quote: “Slobodan Milosevic is a bad guy. He’s an evil man. Horrible things are happening…but sheer numbers — 2,000 killed in the last year versus hundreds of thousands, millions in some cases in other parts of the world. Are you saying the United States should go to all those places?”
(Note: Under President Bill Clinton, opposing U.S. Troops going after Slobodan Milosevic)
Quote: “And in northern Iraq today, this very day, al Qaeda is operating camps there, and they are attacking the Kurds in the north, and this has been well-documented and well chronicled. Now, if you’re going to go after al Qaeda in every aspect, and obviously they have the support of Saddam, or we’re not. ”
(Note: Under President George W. Bush, supporting U.S. Troops going after Saddam Hussein)
Where to begin about serial liar Sean Hannity? Hannity doesn’t just misrepresent the facts, he completely makes things up. Then he repeats the lies over and over and over, as if he can make them real if he repeats them enough. Hannity is one of the most dangerous of the Right-Wing talking heads (although he’s been eclipsed by Glenn Beck), because he actually has an audience that believes that he knows what he’s talking about. Thus his lies are distributed, codified, and dutifully entered into the popular Right-Wing grab-bag of arguments. His lies become a part of the self-deception that has infected most of the United States.
The difficulty in explaining how dangerous Sean Hannity is to the well-being of the United States is that he does not tend to have many quotable statements. To understand Hannity’s deception is to consider full conversations and lies that have been repeated. He is not one given to outrageous statements, like Ann Coulter. Hannity simply says something like “Saddam Hussein was directly connected to the September 11th attacks,” even though that would be a lie, and then he repeats the lie as if it is concrete proof. This is his standard method of operation. Unfortunately, it has found an audience. Tens of thousands of Americans are going around repeating his lies. That is what I see as the Hannitization of America; these lies are an infection that will bear terrible fruit in the future.
