2001: PaganCentric

In 2001 I registered the domain name “PaganCentric.org” as a place to carry on my obsession with the Religious Right. I'd intended to park The Watch there and build a one-stop spot for Pagans to come and learn about pertinent legislation and news stories. But, being that I was on the road all the time, this never quite panned out.

I also finally accepted that most Pagans simply didn't give a damn. This is when the term “fluff bunny” first entered my vocabulary, because I learned that 85% of the people I knew who identified themselves as “Pagan” or “witch” or “Wiccan” were only there for the proverbial beer. Most of them moved on the “normal lives” after their youthful role-playing had run its course.

So ... the revolution never happened. But then, after 2000 came and went and there no great upheaval, interest in the various forms of Paganism waned. The real Pagans wound up in their various corners, the Fluff Bunnies wound up swelling the ranks of the Goth sub-culture, and nothing much happened.

But you know me. I'm stubborn. PaganCentric might never have evolved into a bonafide outfit. But it lives on in a book that I'm working on called The Assimilation Soundtrack, (which features Claire Mulkieran, oddly enough).

Long story short, in the book PaganCentric is the organization that Claire Mulkieran has organized, which, through a series of mishaps and midunderstandings, becomes embroiled the life of a Federal fugitive and is labelled a terrorist organization.
