My Ding-A-Ling

Only I could get into trouble for humming a song in a truck stop.
My Ding-A-Ling, a song by Chuck Berry, had been stuck in my head all morning. You know how that goes. You just get something in there and can’t get it out. Well, I had completely forgot about it, but was walking around in a truck stop humming to myself. Apparently I was humming this song.
I was standing at the coolers trying to figure out which drink I wanted when I lady I’d hardly noticed said to me, “I know what you’re humming. You think you’re being cute, don’t you?”
Umm … whut?
She told me some people might consider what I was doing to be sexual harassment. It took me a minute to figure out what the hell she was talking about. After being admonished for the second time that I should be ashamed of myself, I just said “Ma’am, I’m sorry if I offended you. Hopefully someday you’ll get the help that you so obviously need.”
And I left. Geez. I don’t mind that there are morons in the world. But why do they always have to cross my path? Is it a rite of passage or something? That woman probably considers Yield signs to be subliminal messages from her male oppressors.
