Quote: “In the last 1,000 years, the Arabs have translated as many books as Spain translates in just one year.”
Quote: “A woman who demands further gun control legislation is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders.”
As far as I can see, a black man who supports the Republican Party is the one who is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders. A black man who goes out and pushes the Republican agenda is just plain confused.
Elder likes to bill himself as “The Sage from South Central.” I suppose this is meant to establish his credentials in the African American community as being “from the hood.” Apparently, because he was able to go to college and become a lawyer, Elder has little sympathy for welfare moms and the poor. I have a hard time imagining him on the mean streets of South Central running with a bad crowd. So it seems odd to me that he would use the fact that he’s from South Central to establish a certain tough-guy image while he rants against Government assistance programs and for self-empowerment.
Self-empowerment is easy for the fortunate few. For the rest of us it’s a damned hard struggle. Maybe Elder should research why so few African-Americans can relate to the Republican Party, and ask himself if he is really supporting his community by pushing a Republican agenda that hurts primarily the poor, working families in communities like South Central Los Angeles.
