Bailed!

I bailed on taking that exam today. As the day went on yesterday, I thought about it a lot, and it began to bug me how ignorant the whole thing was. It’s typical governmental administrative bullshit, making someone come to Clearwater to take a 2 1/2 hour test in person in order to qualify to take an online study course to prepare for taking the GED test. It’s especially ignorant because you can just show up and take the GED test.
I’m just going to buy a GED study book off of eBay and do it my way. I finally remembered why I bailed on the GED preparations in 1992. I was stuck in a class at Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC, bored out of my mind while I waited for the class to proceed at something more than a glacial pace. I mean, I realize that not every is at the same level of education and intelligence, but I definitely remember spending most of an entire class discussing semi-colons. That night I finally got frustrated at the inept instructor, who couldn’t answer any question in anything other than typcial confusing textbook gooble-de-gook, that I finally explained to some people behind me what a semi-colon was in a way that they could understand.
I’m not saying that I’m brilliant or anything. I just don’t have much patience with redundancy. I know myself well enough to know that if I can’t proceed at my own pace, I’ll lose interest. And, honestly, the educational level of the stuff that’s included in the GED test is stuff that I got down-pat when I was in the 6th grade.
I feel like I’m trying to justify this. Maybe I am. It wouldn’t have hurt me to go to Clearwater and take the pre-test. I just think it’s so unnecessary. Wasn’t the whole point of an online study program to make it more convenient for people to study for their GED? I just think it’s rediculous to take a 2 1/2 hour test to qualify for studying. Spending 3 1/2 hours to take the actual GED test I have no problem with. But this pre-test is just a waste of time.
