There’s two things I hate about getting stuck behind a truck hauling chickens. 1) Since my A/C is out, my windows are down, so I have smell them. 2) Since my windows are down, I keep getting chicken feathers in my truck!
Fayetteville, North Carolina. I met the NC version of The Animals today (obscure references for a thousand, Alex?). They were all stoned, but had my trailer loaded in ten minutes. They were tucked away in the back of the facility, as if they were being kept away from the general population. When I opened the… Continue reading Encounter With The Animals
Hope Mills, North Carolina. I’m delivering the load I picked up this morning in Georgia. I don’t think The Company has anything for me after this. Big surprise there, huh? Mostly I’m writing because of a dream I had last night, which I wanted to mention, and which I’ve thought about quite often today. I… Continue reading A Dream And The Lost Song
Jonesboro, Georgia. I’m picking up a load going to Hope Mills, North Carolina. It’s a load that picks up and delivers today. 395 total paid miles. I’m none too happy about it. Mostly because The Company made me sit all day yesterday. I drove down to Austell and made my delivery at 08:00 like I… Continue reading Considering Employment
I’m officially dumbfounded. The company just sent me info on my next load. It doesn’t pick up until tomorrow. So the very first thing I did this weekend was take a day off at a truckstop in Atlanta. Why am I working for these people?
Made it to consignee on-time (with 2 minutes to spare). Been wrangling ever since just to get the lumper boss to tell me how much they’ll charge to unload my trailer. When he finally had time to look at it, he told me $150. I’ve always had problems with the concept of lumper services (yes,… Continue reading Another Lumper Rant
Um … I just heard an ad on the radio that was not something I ever expected to hear. It was a recruitment ad for the CIA. Um. Okay. Hmm. I wonder if they’d hire a high-school drop-out who’s been driving a truck for seven years? Yeah. I wanna be a spook.
Just got into Georgia. Making pretty good time. I’m at least on schedule. I’ll be cutting it close, to say the least, but I think I’ll make it. I’ve been thinking about the goodies I had waiting for me at Mama’s. I won’t go into any detail aboup what came in, really, but will let… Continue reading Sleepy Ramblings from Georgia
I’m in the early stages of making a mad dash to my 08:00 delivery in Austell, Georgia. I meant to leave a full hour earlier than I did. But when I got up this morning and started moving around I felt like I was going to pass out. Being upright didn’t seem to be working… Continue reading Monday Morning Ramblings
14:36 Okay, I just saw something that could start a story. First I saw a motorcycle parked on the shoulder. Then I noticed what I at first thought was old wreckage. When I got closer I realized that there was this huge pile of carefully stacked boxes. Like someone had been moving, decided that was… Continue reading The Universe is Snickering
